Ozymandias of Berlin - With apologies to Percy Bysshe Shelley

Ozymandias of Berlin
'My name is Merkel, queen of queens:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

It took me long, true to my trait,
Well based on my foundation from the East.
My subjects stood by me just like some decades back,
Behind my moat of hesitation, blunders and bleck.
To Constantinople I journeyed simple-minded,
Only by a sultan to be blinded.

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Not me, took fancy in sweet Renzi's flair.
Went maritime in rough high seas,
Francois, Matteo, Spumante, Pastis.
T'was then I heard the siren song
From Anatolian shores.
My time had come, Canossa, Recep Tayyip.
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away

All while the AfD holds sway.

Percy Bysshe Shelley
