Rabble-rousing against Erdogan in German schools

From the department 'Integration in Germany'. That has to be a sick joke.

Excerpt from a Migazin article

In worksheets for classrooms Turkish President Erdoğan is presented to the pupils as a budding dictator, compared his policies with Germany in 1933. Turkish parents associations, students and politicians criticize, the Ministry of Education is disinterested.

Westermann publishing company

Cartoon
"Erdoğan towards autocracy?" This question is highly controversial in Germany since the attempted coup in Turkey. In German classrooms, the answer is given. On worksheets of educational publisher "Westermann" for the policy lessons from grades 9 to 13 Erdoğan will be presented to students as a despot and dictator.

Elsewhere it is said with regard to the coup attempt: "What Erdoğan could previously not achieve through legal channels, the concentration of power in his person should be brought to the next level by means of comprehensive repression against journalists, opposition lawmakers and protesters citizens on the way" , Even before the military coup there had been "arbitrary arrests". With the failed military coup Erdoğan seems now "to have gained permission to settle permanently with his opponents".

Several critical excerpts from books, newspapers, magazines and an excerpts from the Nazi "Decree to protect the people and the state" from 1933 round off the Erdoğan-image. In two double lessons, students should link the predetermined content, analyze and develop "policy options Erdoğan".

The German Education Ministry does not comment

Whether the teaching materials for Erdoğan's policy adhere with those principles, the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Education would not comment on. On request MiGAZIN was informed that the teacher see to it "that the political situation in Turkey and the assessment is viewed from different perspectives." Lose worksheets would "not be tested by the Ministry with regard to their curriculum conformity, nor in terms of their political thrust." This is exclusively the responsibility of the publishing company.

Uncommented is also the question of whether the comparison of Erdoğan's policies with the Nazi regime could have a relativistic or trivializing effect with regard to the German history with students.

The Ministry of Education does not give a shit,

as it "is not responsible for the content of such a review of teaching materials," said a spokeswoman to MiGAZIN.

Yeneroğlu: In unscrupulousness hard to beat

For the chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Yeneroğlu (ACP), this explanation is unacceptable. The Turkish MP, who grew up in Germany and went to school, called on the Ministry of Education to fulfill its mission that "such propaganda materials not go unchecked for schools". A clarification from the publishing company is required. The Turkish President will "demonized and students indoctrinated" with the worksheets, so Yeneroğlu. The text is "swarming with untrue factual allegations and defamatory".

Yeneroğlu is particularly surprised about the comparisons with the Nazi regime. "In my school days that would have been unthinkable." These teaching materials "play Hitler and the Nazi regime down, puts the murder of six million Jews, the uniqueness of the Holocaust into question". The comparison of the suppression of the coup attempt in Turkey with the situation after the Reichstag fire can "hardly be topped in its ruthlessness."

What happens if a student does not agree with the German line?

"Small Erdoğan" - students teased

Recep Demir, student at a Cologne Gymnasium has experienced the worksheets in the policy lessons of class 9 himself. Already after the second question he refused to cooperate. "In this text we had to come to a definite conclusion, namely that Erdoğan is bad. I do not go along with that,"said the 15-year-old. The teacher did not show any interest in his arguments. Result: "I got a negative entry in the class book and some classmates teased me then, Small Erdoğan'".

Receps father "can not understand how such agitating papers can be presented to students". He will question the school principal and the teacher, he announced to MiGAZIN. The statement of the Ministry of Education is inexplicable to the father of two. "I can not imagine that the Ministry of Education has no influence on the teaching materials. They would intervene immediately if it were not for Erdoğan."

This translate is not particularly good, but you can catch the drift.

Migazin article in German.

. . . . . . .

The Westermann publishing company did not have one of its brightest days when it concocted these worksheets. If Erdogan is a Nazi, then that would imply that

a) Germany has made a refugees deal with a Nazi.
b) reneged on the Armenia resolution after threats from  a Nazi.
c) is in negotiations for an EU visa deal with a Nazi.
d) invests 58 million Euro in a military base on the terrain of a Nazi.

Furthermore, it proves that German school teachers are idiots for missing these logical conclusions.
