Erdogan has Merkel (and the EU) completely cornered over a satire.

I told you to fucking move
Or Poe's law and “if it is ones lot to be cast among fools, one must learn foolishness.”

If clumsiness is art, then Merkel is a da Vinci with tits. The essential part in Merkel's statement reads:
"In law it is not for the government, but by prosecutors and courts to balance the right to privacy and other concerns against the press and freedom of art. In him obtain authorization for prosecution of the specific offense of insulting institutions and officials of foreign states neither a prejudgment of the person concerned is still an anticipatory decision on boundaries of art, the press and freedom of expression, but simply that the legal analysis of the independent judiciary is betrayed and not the government, but prosecutors and courts will have the last word." (Google translate)
She misrepresents already in the first sentence as it is the government that - unnecessarily - interferes here. Secondly, "independent judiciary" ... Boahahah. Her biggest misjudgement is that "prosecutors and courts will have the last word".

Merkel could not be wronger. She may be stupid, but she is most certainly naive. The last word lies with Erdogan all along as Merkel, a child from Eastern Germany with that mindset still intact and "Kohl's Mädchen", has opened a Pandora's box.

If Erdogan does not like the verdict he will call on the German Constitutional Court as he had already let that be known. That alone would be a disaster for Germany and a slap in the face of the government. He could and would bring the case to the ECHR in Strasbourg. Even more disaster, this time for the whole of the EU. We are still talking only about the satire case.

Enter President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s interest in securing visa-free travel for Turks to the Schengen Area of Europe. Did Merkel forget that and did she forget the highly questionable Turkey-Refugees-Swap deal?
"The minute Erdogan senses that Turkey is actually not going to get the covered visa-free travel due to the lack of timely compliance with all 72 EU requirements, he would have a readily available excuse to tear up the deal."
Erdogan would not be Erdogan if he ripped that deal apart in a rage. He would wait till the payment of the first tranche, say 1 to 1.5 billion €, and then say adiós. That's when Greece would be again flooded with refugees. Erdogan would see to that and the EU would be history.

That is the highly likely scenario when you are the paymaster/leader of a bunch of ill-fitting nation states bundled together in something called "EU" and employ your tried and tested way of 'wait and see leadership' in a spat with a ruthless dictator. In Prague they had three times a solution, each a couple of centuries apart. In the EU it apparently suffices to be a four flusher.
