Being black, without a valid ticket in Munich's S-Bahn and things may go a tad overboard.

The nerves are at breaking point in Germany and in particular in Bavaria. The immigration crises brings ingrained aversions to the fore. The cards are stacked against you when you look different. If you happen to be black, some people just snap. If you are Asian, same procedure.

A man from Nigeria happened to ride the Munich S-Bahn without a valid ticket. The usual procedure when someone without a ticket refuses to pay the fine and refuses to disclose his identity is that police is called. They are then supposed to handle that in a professional way. In Munich Bundesbahn controllers went overboard.

Apparently, it was not a single incident and one journalist burned his ticket in disgust over a similar incident with an Asian woman.

Oh, what a coincidence. My daughter just got home and reported about a foreigner couple being controlled in the S-Bahn. They did have a ticket but not the correct one. It is very difficult for foreign tourists to understand the ticket options.  One of the controllers said: "You have the wrong ticket. You need a ticket for the Gesamtzone". For fuck's sake, they do not even have people in Munich who are able to speak English. Welcome to Bavaria.

My daughter was watching the whole scene and she can be very outspoken if a situation calls for it. This time, the controllers were conducting themselves OK.
