To see New Zealand so low on the wealth distribution chart was surprising to me, until I read this today in the FT:
“We have a rock star economy for those lucky enough to enjoy rock star wages,” says Jan Rutledge, manager at De Paul House, a charity in Auckland. “But New Zealand is a low wage economy and for those on the margins finding affordable housing is a challenge.”
Speaking of low wage, Germany springs to mind. It is comfortably wedged between Peru and Malaysia with Italy and Spain a good deal higher up. Count on Martin Schulz and his SPD to change all that in no time.
