The Lhotshampa were knocking, but found no open door. No Willkommenskultur. No old discarded trash in train stations.

Oh, I hear ya Germans. You did not know. Right, you did not know. Like 80 years ago. When you chose not to hear. When you made the conscious decision not to know. It was far away.

It was so easy for you, because these, yes I know, you do not even know what Lhotshampas are, had no means to come here. Oh, you were so safe. Far away were those folks. On the other side of the Ganges, at the foot of the Himalayas. They had no papers, although they used to have them. All taken, burnt, destroyed, lost. Yet fortunately, after some long years, they found a country that gave them shelter. A country that was safe behind vast stretches of ocean on either side. Still, the USA granted asylum to over 70,000 refugees from camps in Nepal.

True, it is not all cakes and roses. They have the highest suicide rate, which is a pity ...

But, hey Germany, where were you? You have a fucking embassy in Kathmandu (fully outfitted with German appliances!), yet you cared shit.
